The Pocket Jazz Club, 130 W 46th St, New York, NY
Hosted by The Pocket Jazz Club
Trumpeter and composer Ralph Alessi has established a distinctive voice in contemporary jazz, known for music that combines lyrical clarity, rhythmic complexity, and an adventurous approach to improvisation. An ECM recording artist, Alessi has worked with many of the most influential musicians in modern jazz while developing a body of work that moves fluidly between composition and spontaneous interplay. For this quartet, Alessi is joined by pianist and MacArthur Genius Grant winner Craig Taborn, bassist Drew Gress, and drummer Billy Drummond—three singular voices and longtime figures on the creative jazz scene. Together, the group explores Alessi’s compositions with an emphasis on interaction, openness, and the unexpected. Ralph Alessi – TrumpetCraig Taborn – PianoDrew Gress – BassBilly Drummond – Drums
